Public Pissing Match

I knew there was something I didn’t like about outgoing New York Times public editor Daniel Okrent. Read the public debate he’s having with Times columnist Paul Krugman here. It comes complete with unsubstantiated accusations, unnecessary snarky attacks, and obfuscation of facts. Strange traits for an ombudsman, no?

Oh, and the “I’m Taking My Ball and Going Home” Asshole Statement Award?

I hate to do this to a decent man like my successor, Barney Calame, but I’m hereby turning the Krugman beat over to him.
Did I wake up in middle school? The garbage I write isn’t even that nasty.

A good follow-up analysis is available at The New Republic Online.
