Nice Job, Dipshit
So, John Kerry releases all his military records. Basically, they say what we all knew from the beginning: that he was an excellent serviceman and that the Swift Boat Liars were full of shit.
The records, which the Navy Personnel Command provided to the Globe, are mostly a duplication of what Kerry released during his 2004 campaign for president, including numerous commendations from commanding officers who later criticized Kerry's Vietnam service. So, you might ask, if his unaltered, uncensored military records show that his enemies were a bunch of lying douchebags, why wouldn't he release them during the campaign? Read on:
The lack of any substantive new material about Kerry's military career in the documents raises the question of why Kerry refused for so long to waive privacy restrictions. An earlier release of the full record might have helped his campaign because it contains a number of reports lauding his service. Indeed, one of the first actions of the group that came to be known as Swift Boat Veterans for Truth was to call on Kerry to sign a privacy waiver and release all of his military and medical records.Great, so in an effort to not "kowtow" to these assholes, you instead came off looking like you had something to hide, which caused every news organization in the country to put these fools on TV ad nauseum and allow them to sling heaping piles of bull-plop at you. You took one of your biggest assets against Bush, the fact that you are a WAR HERO (while the "War President" was getting stoned in Texas) and could lead the War on Terror (TM) and flushed it down the fucking toilet, all because you refused to release the evidence that would have proven your accusers were liars. All to prove some point, that you were above all that bullshit. Well, nice going, dipshit. Now we're stuck with Commander Cuckoo Bananas for another 4 years.
But Kerry refused, even though it turned out that the records included commendations from some of the same veterans who were criticizing him.
On May 20, Kerry signed a document called Standard Form 180, authorizing the Navy to send an ''undeleted" copy of his ''complete military service record and medical record" to the Globe. Asked why he delayed signing the form for so long, Kerry said in a written response: ''The call for me to sign a 180 form came from the same partisan operatives who were lying about my record on a daily basis on the Web and in the right-wing media. Even though the media was discrediting them, they continued to lie. I felt strongly that we shouldn't kowtow to them and their attempts to drag their lies out."
When are the Democrats going to learn that they can't just pretend to ignore this shit? Because the press sure as hell isn't ignoring it, and if the majority of the country gets their information from that same press, and it's all bullshit, then the bullshit is all people will know. How long will it take until Democrats realize that when Republicans attack them with lies, they have to hit back twice and hard with the truth?
